Los Angeles – This fall, Bonhams will host an exceptional auction of California and Western Paintings & Sculpture on November 20, featuring prime examples by leading Impressionists such as Selden Connor Gile, Joseph Kleitsch, E. Charlton Fortune, William Wendt, Joseph Raphael, Guy Rose, Edgar Payne, Birger Sandzén, and Eanger Irving Couse.

Scot Levitt, Bonhams Director of Fine Arts, said "In a sale already full of strong offerings, the auction will also feature ten stunning works valued above $100,000, all carefully vetted to meet the expectations and interests of today's savvy collectors."

The sale of more than 170 lots will include a distinguished collection of Western art from the George Gund III Trust, as well as Alaskan art from the collection of H. Willard Nagley II, a founder and benefactor of the Anchorage Museum.

Among the highlights from the sale are two paintings by Joseph Kleitsch with extensive exhibition history, most recently included in The Golden Twenties: Portraits and Figure Paintings by Joseph Kleitsch at the Pasadena Museum of California Art. A fresh-to-the-market work by Eanger Irving Couse, Fireside Meditation (estimate: $150,000-250,000), which was sold to the notable Southern California art patron Josephine P. Everett, retains the artist's original frame.
